Custom sign, custom stand, brand display

Signage Blog

How to make a custom stand for your brand display? You need a drawing or reverse engineering. Not easy. You should have a deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, right tools and creativity.

Custom sign maker

Sign and Fitouts is a quality signage company in Melbourne. We are signage manufacturer  and accept signage design, custom signs, custom stands and custom brand display jobs. We helped many shopfitters and design companies in the past to fabricate and deliver quality jobs to their clients.

Custom Stand and Custom brand display

We got an order to create a custom stand from Ted Baker. We had an image of end product and some dimensions. First we redraw the parts and make the file ready to cut with our CNC Router which we use it for custom business signs, custom stands and custom brand display. When you need to put your custom stand in a showroom, exhibition or shopping centre, stability and finishing is very important.

Materials and Finishing

When you are choosing materials for this type of stands, be careful. All materials should match. If you choose MDF which we did 18 mm for structure and 9 mm for baskets, you must choose suitable paint and painting method for a good finishing. Anyway, we designed it very accurate and it made the nice finishing easier. We fabricate the structure, with special fixtures, don’t forget fine sand and 2 part under coat. We assembled the baskets with MDF glue and hidden nails for extra strength. The rest is easy. Just spray painting as final coat. At the end we applied printed TED BAKER canvas on top of the stand.

Window sign, window graphics

How to get more impact on your shop signage? Easy. We got an order for shop sign in Northcote, Melbourne.

Effective shop signage

Each sign impacts a unique group of visitors. Shop front signage impact is more on pedestrian on opposite footpath and all motorists. For attracting people passing the shop window we need more, pedestrian can not see the shop front from that angle. We used window sign and under awning double sided light box sign to bring attention to the shop. You can not miss a light box sign when you are looking forward. Even in darker hours, illuminated signs have more impact and its visible from both directions of footpath.

Time is important

We usually use only branding on this type of signs. The message should be delivered in less than 5 seconds, same as shop front signage. Now we attract people to our shop window and it is time to get them more information and maybe some advertising about the business or products.

Image or Text

Images and words are both helpful, some people attract with images and some like to read, then we should consider both to design a window sign or window graphic.

We got an order to install a window signs and shop sign for Little Peeps in Bentleigh, Melbourne.

This window signs should apply from inside. How to install window signs from inside? Easy.

We printed the artwork with our HP Latex printer in reverse on a clear vinyl and laminated with white back self-adhesive vinyl. Just make sure to use white back clear adhesive, not block out, and put black trim marks or trim lines on printed clear vinyl.

In this case, you may see through the white vinyl or use a light table to trim your artwork to size. The rest is easy. Clean the window, peel backing paper and use wet application technique to apply vinyls.

3D sign, shop sign, acrylic signage

How to install heavy 3D sign? We used CNC Router to create a 3D sign for Pagla restaurant shop sign in Carlton Melbourne.

This acrylic sign or 3D letter sign was cut out from 20 mm acrylic sheet in one piece. It means the sign is very heavy. To solve this problem we designed back pins for more stability. For installation we needed a template for these pins. This template has the whole map of the back pins of the sign and may create from a cheap material like 3 mm MDF, a second hand AC Panel, vinyl or even a piece of paper. The most important thing is back pin positions should match the template. The rest is easy. We put the template on shop front, drilled the holes and installed our heavy sign with pins and glue as a business sign for Pagla restaurant in Carlton.

Window signs

We cut gold Avery vinyl in reverse to apply Pagla’s window sign from inside. You may use any coloured vinyl with clear or transparent adhesive for this type of jobs. When you need to apply vinyl from inside as a window decal, window graphics or cut out letters, be sure the window is not tinted otherwise your colour and artwork looks different.

signage design, bike design

An Italian Restaurant needed a viable sign to attract pedestrians to their restaurant at Southgate Avenue, Southbank, Melbourne.

Turn a Bike to Pavement Sign

An Italian Restaurant needed a viable sign to attract pedestrians to their restaurant at Southgate Avenue, Southbank, Melbourne.

The challenge was the fact that no A-frame or A-board sign is allowed at Southgate Avenue. As a professional sign maker in Melbourne with a wide range of signage solutions, Sign & Fitouts came up with a unique yet practical way to turn a bicycle into a mobile signage for the restaurant.

A little engineering and totting up was needed to make sure the bicycle could be used both as a durablewaterproof outdoor sign when parked by the restaurant and otherwise as a normal bicycle safe enough to ride.

The client was impressed by the quality of the end result. In spite of the hard, time-consuming process of shaping a piece of strong aluminium panel to match the body of the bike and then installing the panel onto it then put cut out vinyl on top, the final result was eye-catching and manifested a successful signage solution.

Who said windows were created just to let light in? They can serve as your business partners, especially if you have limited options, which happens more often than not in Melbourne.

Here’s How to Turn Your Windows into Business Boosters

Your business may be located on a crowded street and in a limited space, in which case you won’t have much freedom in choosing your signage. That’s when your front windows can come to your aid.

Wrap up your front windows with window decals and stickers
It goes without saying that classy window graphics will attract a lot of attention. They can literally turn your front windows into a canvas on which you can communicate any message in any way without limitations, just like how an artist is not limited in illustrating his or her thoughts. No matter whether you’re a travel agency, a barber shop, a real estate company, a spa center or a childcare provider, you can always get your own defining design for a window decal and stick it to your front window where it’ll be most visible.

You can use images, texts, abstract patterns or a combination of all three to present an attractive, accurate illustration of your business. Window stickers (including window wraps, window decals and vinyl graphics) are easy and quick to install. You can even remove window stickers easily, if you ever need to, and leave no marks. They are also durable against direct sunlight and harsh weathers, which makes them a great option for all seasons, especially in Melbourne. You can always count on window graphics if you have limited space or view angles for an expressive sign.

Neon sign , Custom signage

Neon glass tube lighting is a quite popular way of advertising these days.

Meet World’s First Neonless Neon Lights: LED-Powered Light Strips

It turned heads back in the ‘10s and ‘20s when it was only emerging. Imagine—at night—a shining, colourful piece of text on a shop front or in the air at a time when all people saw was normal, dull unilluminated shop signage that didn’t have anything special to them. Those people were truly amazed.

Neon signs are a very attractive way of introducing a business, especially those that need to look attractive, such as restaurantscafesclubspizza shops and burger shops. They come in various colours, can be shaped into almost any form and have a really long lifespan. They’re also visible both at day and at night. Technically speaking, neon lights are hollow glass tubes with purified neon gas in them and, in some cases, thin layers of phosphorescent powder coatings applied to their inner walls. The neon is ionized using high-voltage from both ends of the glass tube, hence the emitted light.
