Common questions
What materials are used in your signs?
Aluminium, acrylic and vinyl, specified to the job. Our commercial light boxes use a fully welded aluminium frame (200 mm double-sided or 150 mm single-sided) with 3 mm or 4.5 mm opal acrylic face panels — welded rather than bolted, which is what makes them suitable for exposed outdoor positions.
Do you offer illuminated signage options?
Yes — illuminated signs, backlit 3D lettering, LED and neon. Our light boxes run cool white LED modules on an IP67-rated driver and use 40–80% less power than the fluorescent tubes they replace. Prices start at $660 including GST.
Can you create custom building or shop signs for my brand?
Yes, every sign is custom-designed and made to order. Shop and building signs are made to any size. Our standard light boxes come in square 400 × 400 mm to 1200 × 1200 mm, rectangular 1200 × 400 mm to 2000 × 600 mm and round Ø500 mm to Ø1200 mm; custom sizes and shapes are made on request. Frames come in black, white, or a colour matched to your brand.
What is your installation process like?
We measure on site, fabricate to order, then install. Made-to-order light boxes take about two weeks to produce before an installation date is set, and installation is scheduled around your trading hours so the shopfront stays usable.

The Peaky Blinders Barbershop in St. Kilda came to Sign and Fitouts seeking a Custom 3D Illuminated Shop Sign that would create an inviting, comfortable environment for their clientele. We decided on a backlit Illuminated 3D Sign that would capture the inimitable spirit of the shop’s namesake.
For this project, we used PVC Foamex, a versatile, rigid material that is easy to cut and shape. We grooved interconnected channels in the back of the sign, where we placed LED lights. Then, we mounted a CNC cut 6 mm black acrylic sign on top of the Foamex. This created a backlit ‘halo’ effect that exudes a gentle warmth.
Signage Journal
Audio Hearing, a leading audiology practice, requested a modern, neat Custom Sign for the exterior of their Doncaster branch.
To achieve this look, we opted for a sign with push through letters. These remarkable 3D Signs can be made in any size. For Audio Hearing, our Heidelberg West based, skilled workshop staff built a 5m long sign printed with their brand colour. Then, using a CNC Router, we cut individual 3D Letters from acrylic. Each letter was grooved in the back to allow for insertion of LED lights. Finally, the grooved, shining 3D letters were pushed through the sign to create a striking Illuminated, 3D effect.
